Nancy Stjepanovic – Founder of SNS Courses
Hi, I’m Nancy! I’m an experienced crochet and sewing teacher, qualified in fashion design, dressmaking, and patternmaking. My professional background also includes nursing, counselling, and adult education, which gives me a unique perspective on supporting individuals and groups of diverse needs and abilities.
I’ve loved everything to do with fabrics and yarn since childhood—designing, creating, and teaching. My grandmother taught me to crochet lace collars and doilies when I was seven, and I picked up knitting and sewing in my teens. After years of home sewing, I pursued formal studies in fashion and started my dressmaking business from home while raising my children. I also volunteered in schools, teaching hand sewing and crochet.
A highlight of my creative journey was crocheting a christening dress that won First Prize at the Royal Adelaide Craft Show—such an exciting moment where my design and skills were recognised!
As a self-care practitioner, I understand the positive impact creativity has on overall wellbeing, especially mental health. Today, my focus is entirely on teaching, inspiring creativity, and promoting self-sufficiency through sewing and crochet workshops for both kids and adults.
I still make my own clothes and love integrating dressmaking techniques with crochet and knitting. Several years ago, I founded SNS Courses with the goal of creating digital courses, and it quickly grew into a thriving hands-on business as well.
I hope you enjoy your creative journey as much as I do!
Happy creating,
Nancy
